Start is me, Joe Start. I'm a long-time expat from California living in the Yvelines, suburbs west of Paris. I write non-fiction about my adventures as an American expat abroad, first-person travel memoirs, cross-cultural observations, the impact of technological innovation on individuals, the history of food, the crossroads of ingredients recipes and culture, and recreational sailing in habitable monohulls, smaller catamarans and dinghies.  I like the word dinghy.  I think I'll write it a third time.  Dinghy. My latest long-form project is the book French License, released this Summer.
