Fake or Genuine job offer

Dear All,

I have received a job offer from SCOTT Automation. How can I find out whether it is genuine or fake.

Welcome to the forum.

I checked online and they are a genuine company with offices around the world, with 2 offices in NZ.
However there are scammers who use company websites for their own gain.

If the offer asks for you to send money for visas or other costs then it is a scam. Any genuine employer will cover all costs.

Try this website www.scottautomation.com and contact them to find out if the offer is genuine or not.

You may have the pre-communication emails. You must have been interviewed at least twice. You must have had phone call sessions with your employer prior to receiving the job offer. If you have emails from the authentic company's address and have gone through all the processes, that's original, however, if not, then its simply fake.

P.S, you did not even mention your current status whether you're a resident and present in the country or are you outside NZ and not a resident.

Hi

Myself Mohammad Shaban actually I received a job offer from Auckland company name HAWTHORN LOUNGE as a Restaurant Manager I got telephonic interviewed also by the HR and after that I received a memorandum of understanding from them stating details so just want to know that is it a genuine offer or a fake one because I m really worried about it.
Your response will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

@Shaban78610

I checked online and cannot find a Hawthorn Lounge in Auckland. There is one in Wellington.
Have they asked you to send money to cover visa costs ?

Here is their email address [email protected]  I suggest you email them about this.  Their phone number is 048903724. Is this the same number that you had the phone interview on?

Be aware that with Covid-19 here in NZ it will be virtually impossible to enter NZ.

This is a fake job offer - I own Hawthorn Lounge in Wellington, New Zealand and do not offer positions in this manner. Please notify your local police as the person offering the job is attempting to scam you and many others.

Stumpy,  You are correct - this is a scam job offer. Please notify your local police as the person offering the position has nothing to do with my business.

If the address is as given, the offer is likely a fake

Did you apply or were you sent a random email - If random - obviously a scam
Have they asked for money - If they do, it's a scam

I also received a job offer from TODD Hotel Auckland from Ethan Noah.  Got the employment letter as well by e mail. Was told they got my profile from Times jobs.  I received one call which lasted 60 seconds, the caller wanted to know why I wanted to move to NZ.  The address given is 78 Nelson Street Auckland CBD, NZ.  Checked on Google Maps and Earth...no such place exists. They even sent me NZ Embassy contact in Delhi who said the cost of a 4 year Visa is RS 25,000 Indian rupees.  Their website says its a Trip Advisor top recommended hotel.  Checked in TA, there is simply no listing of suh a hotel.  Checked in booking.com....again no existence of such a hotel.

Seems a complete Sham....and I wonder why they are doing it?

I did a video on how to detect immigration scams in New Zealand but I doubt the website will let me post a link to it, but I'll try https://youtu.be/yoQuzdcOC-0

If not, go to YouTube and search for "Detecting Immigration Scams" and there should be a video from Stace Hammond. In the video we go through ways to detect scams, and the description links to places you can go to and check any visa they say they have issued (if they say its a two year visa, its a scam. This will likely be an NZESTA which is NOT a visa).

Hi,

Even I have received offer for Finance Manager position. I have paid money for visa fees thereafter on personal travel allowance and now they are demanding money to open a bank account with Reserve Bank of New Zealand. The document which I have received appears to be very genuine. The travler cheque appear genuine.

Receipts and the invoice raised by VFS global office seem forged. The invoice appears to be a fraud since High commission office and VFS office are different. invoice cannot have the details of both. Mail received from the embassy office uses different ink colours which seems against professional manners of writing a communication from the desk of embassy and logon is also missing.

I am confused and fear this to be a Scam. I would appreciate if the author of this mail share his or her experience till now.

I am receiving call from the hotel taking updates about the visa process and they are writing back on the queries raised by me. The caller is calling from the same number which is available on the internet to contact the company.

Kiss your money, now their money, goodbye.

You've been scammed

This is really easy

If they ask for cash - It's a scam

Also, if you've sent your passport, even a scan, it's very possible you could be the victim of identity theft - The more documents you give them, the better the chance.

can someone help me if this is a scam

SCAM.

Agreed, sadly this sounds like a scam. You've done very well in how you've looked through the evidence.

Sadly its a scam. The Reserve Bank is not a bank that is usable by people. It is a government bank that controls money supply and only provides accounts to other banks. So they cannot open you an account there. Sorry.

Aaran Hunt, whose message are you referring to?
