Utility Bills

Evening All,

If anyone has any tips/advice please on this:

how much roughly do utility bills come to monthly (water, electricity)?

Do you need to prepay for some bills, like water, electricity, in advance as you are moving into a property?

We are moving to Malta in mid Feb and just would like to try to get as much info as possible...

Many many thanks,
A

This subject has been covered many times on here as regards costs etc, if you look at previous posts using the search button you should find the information you need. You do not normally prepay bills,
many landlords like ours ask that you pay extra on top of your rent to go towards the utility bill which we are happy to do.    Make sure you are on the cheaper rate when you take the accommodation on, this subject has also been covered many times on here, good luck.

utilities dont go on your name, but insist your new landlord fills in "form H", do so while negotiating price else you are on a higher rate.

The question is a bit silly though as it differs widely from house to house, sometimes mine can be 800 for 3 months which I am sure others will think is insane.

Our last bill for Sept to Dec was less then€100.

We paid our latest bill this week, covering September 2nd to December 26th, total €95.
Two people in large 3 bed penthouse using aircon for heating as well as cooling!
Electric cooker/gas hob. Use 2 gas cylinders a year!

our last bill was more then 100$

I dont know if anyone can help, but i need a PDF of a utility bill from Malta. Name and adress can be redacted.
Can anyone help?

When you register with the Maltese Utilities company you have to pay € 400.00 in advance. This is a surety you will get back when you move out of your residence. In case you are a subtenant other regulations may apply.

You only pay €400 if you want your name on the account.

Only if you want the account in your name, if you just want to submit Form H to register the number of residents then it is free.
