Registering Foreign Marriage in Egypt

You need to have the cert stamped in Canada  with an apostille stamp (google it) for international authentication... Then you need to bring the document to the Canadian embassy in Cairo and get them to stamp it ... explain to them what you need .. then you take it to an office of the Egyptian ministry of foreign and they stamp it ... ask the Canadian embassy where the nearest office is ... This is all fairly common for all documentation that needs to be used in another country such as contracts, certs of origin etc in business and for personal document such as birth certs, marriage certs, divorce papers etc ...

Hard work and hassle but fairly straightforward.

Thank you so much Ray for your answer. Canada is not a signatory to the Hague Apostille Convention, and therefore does not issue apostilles (per my googling). Instead it seems like they do their own version of the apostille process which is called document authentication and legalization. Does that seem like what I should do?

Yes ... Will work ... after all, Canada does business abroad and has to have a way of document authentication... same thing, just different name

Curiosity... If you don't mind me asking... What do you need the authentication of the cert for? My wife holds dual citizenship Irish and Egyptian and is Muslim ...

We figured the marriage would have to be registered in Egypt in the event of his death (with respect to inheritance for me) or as an important step before we have children for his children to be recognized? Not sure!
