Residence Pass - Talent - Application Rejection

I have recently applied for the Residence Talent pass and unfortunately my application was un successful. Does any one know whether I can re apply for the RP-T Visa later and also does the RPT team provide reason for rejection ? Any information on this would be really helpful

Anybody recently applied for RPT (Resident Talent Pass) and successfully completed the process?

Please share what all documents are required... will be helpful if you can mention what kind of recommendations are required apart from current organization.

Regards.

I appied successfully. All the documents are explined on their website. It is very easy to follow. And they have a live chat forum, and they respond quickly.

Hi Kris,

I have exactly same query as you have posted. Since your post was back in 2019, I believe you must have got the answer to the same and hopefully you might have been successful already by now. I would greatly appreciate if you may share your experience and provide some guidance how to proceed hereafter. Thanks.

Regards
Vijay

Can you share your position and industry? I also very recently applied and my application was unsuccessful. I'm a HR director.

Hi Charchar12,

My position is Assistant Vice President in Medical Gloves Manufacturing Company (3 years completed in Jan-2021). Kindly share yours as well.

Did they specify the reasons for the rejection? How are you proceeding on this matter now? Thanks.

Hi ,

I am a product owner in a leading bank and  got the RPT outcome as UNSUCCESSFUL .
Not sure on what grounds they are rejecting.

Is there some channel where we can challenge this decisions ?

Regards,

No reason given, I have emailed them to ask for more information on the reason and also what options I have now. I will also give them a call tomorrow to see if there is any option to reapply

No point in calling because the number doesn't work. Its really annoying that even after completing 10 years in Malaysia still the application is getting rejected.

Hi

If you email them they will give you the reason, they gave me mine. You can appeal the decision.

I would suggest first you email them to find out the reason for the panels decision then decide if you have grounds for appeal.

And yes your correct the line is switched to answering machine but they are very fast at replying emails.

Hi Charchar12/Spikemihir2002, can we connect to discuss on this matter which may be helpful for all of us. Regards

Sure, how would you like to connect?

Are we allowed to share our contacts here?

lets connect over email first and we can exchange info der. Drop me an email on [link moderated].

Its been so long since I looked at this situation but as i remember, 10 years is the limit for an expat to work in Malaysia. By then, the job was supposed to be handed off to a local. If this has changed maybe someone will chime in. If the limit still applies, that could be the reason for rejection.

Dear Sir/Madam
I have very regret to inform you that The Immigration Department of Malaysia has made a final decision that my Residence Pass - Talent application  has been UNSUCCESSFUL on 28/05/2021.
could you sent me what is the any way to successful my application.

Best Regards
MOHAMMED KABEER

Hi Vijay, Charchar

My application is also been rejected second time. They did not give the reason of rejection. Any way your can advise if I can re appeal on the decision and if yes, how I can do that?

Same happened to me, waiting for them to inform if can appeal again. I'll let you know

Thanks

Since this appeal is not approved, there will be no further appeal. If you wish to re-apply new RP-T in future, you will have to wait for cooling period of six (6) months from the appeal rejection date. Thereafter, you may email us to request deactivate the current account for you to re-apply new RP-T. Once deactivated, you may register for a new account.

Hello Everyone,

I was thinking of applying for RP-T but feeling discouraged now after reading the posts here. I would request everyone to let me know if they were able to secure RP in recent times.

Did anyone receive a proper justification from them about why it wasnt approved? Also, how many times we can reapply, is there any cooling off period?

I also heard that we need a letter of recommendation from some prominent local. Does it affect our chances?

Thanks in adavance everybody!

Charachar/ Mihir/ Vijay/ gaurav-

Thanks for your suggestions. It really helps. Good to hear that at least somebody is successful. We can definitely take care of all points except for marrying a malaysian (for married ppl) :)

Hi Everyone! Just came across this forum and this particular topic. Sorry to hear that the applications are being rejected despite being in top positions and for close to 10 years in Malaysia. I have spent slightly over 4 years here and got my RP-T approved end May this year. It was close to a 3-month wait (not the 21 working days as mentioned on their site) but at least it was approved so I cannot complain. I still haven't managed to cancel my EP and proceed with endorsement as Immigration counters/ ESD were not open, until a couple of days ago.
Besides myself 2 other colleagues of mine had applied -  only one was a success. I am married to a Malaysian and had my marriage cert attached - this might have played a part in the application being successful but what I was advised by my other RP-T holders in my industry (Oil & Gas) were the below, consider these as suggestions only:
a) Local contact person to be from the same industry and preferably in a higher position than the applicant
b) Local contact person to have known the applicant for at least 5 years
c) Get at least 3 recommendation letters/ testimonials from superiors in the same industry - exclude the local contact person from this if possible - and preferably different companies.
d) The testimonials should indicate that you have been involved in projects that have contributed to the economy and you have also been training local candidates to take over your role and other roles - basically showing that you are encouraging and open to more local talent presence.
e) Give it at least 4 years, instead of the required 3 years to send in your 1st application, kind of showing that you are here to stay..

Hope this helps. With regards to the appealing the colleague of mine who has his application rejected had approached a 3rd party (agents that assist in filling up RP-T applications/ provide guidance) and they quoted 5k MYR. They also told him it would be better off to not appeal as there have not been any successful appeal cases before. They also suggested to wait for another 6 months and re-apply. Don't want to sound pessimistic/ discouraging here, just sharing what I know.

For the ones that are thinking twice about applying please give it a shot. You never know until you try. It is a bit of a hit and miss but worth a try.

Hi all,
I have applied for my RP-T second time after a gap of 1 year and to my surprise they have rejected my application.  But 2 people with similar profile from my office have got it approved . Really dont know the reason for panel to reject my application for the second time . Last time they told me I have not completed 5 years and there is a problem with my job code. This time I changed my job code to " Other Manager " and also completed 5 years.
does any one have similar problem like me ?
It's happened for me they refuse  for no sense. Request. And. When they accept. My application they reject. For reason must apply. Rp during ur visa was valid  and now gap and new role   is. Onside start from zero.. Immigration ruls. WYS  MADE TRUBLE. AND  THEY. MAKE IT AS U CANNT APPY EASILY that's why u frustrated few time

Mine is rejected as well and they provided the reason as below:

I write the full story here if you are interested to know : [link moderated]

We are sorry that your application was unsuccessful. Ultimately, it was a panel decision by the RP-T panel (consisting of high-level officials from Immigration, Ministry of Home Affairs, and TalentCorp).

We have mentioned on the RP-T website that the eligibility criteria are the minimum criteria to be considered for RP-T and the final decision is made by the panel: https://rpt.talentcorp.com.my/applicati … y-criteria

Meeting the eligibility criteria for application does not necessarily lead to approval.

The panel had decided that your application just meets the eligibility criteria, thus, you are advised to remain on Employment Pass.

If you wish to appeal for the application, you may request it through this email and we will inform the respective team to enable the appeal online. For the appeal application, it is advisable to upload a strong justification letter from your employer company (Director or position above) to state your contribution to the company, the industry, and the country of Malaysia for consideration by the RP-T panel. The appeal application will have to be submitted within 6 months from the rejection date, with the condition that your current pass is still valid for more than 3 months.

Hi All,just to share my case as well, got the reject for my profile too after wait of 6 long months.

Reasons for the rejection are really baseless to me,sometimes they say u need to complete min 8 years, which In my case is still invalid as I have been in MY for 9 yrs now.
2nd reason -not much contribution to the country ..hellooo...I am not doing a gov job or a project for the country ...most of us works for organisations which contribute to the economy of the country ..
Even after providing letter from director level ..not suitable

3rd reason when been asked again
.saying RPT has become strict .
I would agree to the above if I was not able to fulfill any of the requirement which are mentioned as part of eligibility criteria...but do they mention it anywhere ..noooo

I feel I wasted almost 6 months of my time fulfilling and providing what all they asked(sometimes repetitive docs ) and still feel I am not eligible to get RPT ...
Not happy with their process ...they should also start refunding back the fees for unsuccessful applications as they dont even update their website till now with the new fee...the pop up still says fee of rm 300.. shame !!

Hello everyone!

I would like to share my personal experience in-details of my application of (RP-T) Residence Pass-Talent in Malaysia. As everyone here knows the benefits of this Talent Pass in Malaysia, so l skip this and describe about my journey in this process.

EMPLOYER'S DETAILS:

SDN. BHD. (SME) of Trading, Management and Services.

APPLICANT'S DETAILS:

Executive Director, Co-owner & Major shareholder of company. Living in Malaysia since 2007.

FIRST APPLICATION FOR RP-T IN YEAR 2020:

Fully Eligible for RP-T with below details…

•    Worked over 13 Years in Malaysia

•    Basic Monthly Salary RM 19K

•    Malaysian Income Tax Payer since 2007

•    Highest Qualifications

•    Possesses 18 Years of Total Working Experience

RESULT: My RP-T Application REJECTED with below reasons.

•    Your hiring company has been classified as an SME.

•    Your basic salary is still at the minimum range even you met the minimum requirement.

•    You post is under middle management and non- technical (Non critical position).

SECOND APPLICATION (AFTER 2 YEARS) FOR RP-T IN YEAR 2022:

Fully Eligible for RP-T with below details…

•    Worked over 15 Years in Malaysia

•    Basic Monthly Salary RM 26K

•    Malaysian Income Tax Payer since 2007

•    Highest Qualifications

•    Possesses 20 Years of Total Working Experience

RESULT: My RP-T Application REJECTED again with below reasons.

•    Based on the feedback from the respective team, the RP-T application was assessed and scored accordingly and the respective team have informed that the application just meets the minimum requirement and may not be suitable to fall under RP-T currently.

After second time rejection, I decided to appeal for the RP-T approval, as I crossed far more than the minimum requirements set by TalentCorp.

APPEALED FOR RP-T AFTER 1 MONTH OF REJECTION

RESULT: Successfully got APPROVAL of my RP-T after waiting for more than 1 month.

Beside the minimum requirements, here are few things which I think, are very beneficial to get approved…

•    Working in Malaysia for 8 Years.

•    Basic Monthly Salary more than RM25K

•    12 Years of Total Working Experience.

•    Have Paid Income Tax for Last 2 Years with Basic Monthly Salary of RM20K or above.

•    Current Employment Pass Approved for 24 months+ and Valid for 1 Year at the time of application.

•    Local Sponsor from your Company, who is senior than your post.

•    Local Sponsor Preferably know you personally since you are working in Malaysia.

•    Provide the Business details of your Company and your Role in the successes of your company.

•    Testimonials from your Malaysian and other previous Employers.

•    Prove that your presence in Malaysia will be beneficial for the economy and does not harm the Local's Jobs.

•    Your skills have to be extraordinary and provide the in-depth details of your current and past achievements.

•    Show personal contribution to Malaysia, such as creating Jobs for locals, charity and welfare, etc.

•    Details of your personal assets in Malaysia, such as Property, Bank Fixed Deposits and Ownership of Shares.

•    VERY IMPORTANT! Recommendation / Support Letters from relevant Ministries / Govt Departments in Malaysia.

CONCLUSION: In order to get approved, application has to be submitted with solid documentations. Otherwise, the chances of approvals are very low. The RP-T application process is simple but the Approval's rates are significantly very low, as it is quite harder to get approved.

Remember: Hiring an agent for this process does not necessarily help or improve the chances of approval. Almost all the agents, follow your provided details and submit your application accordingly at quite high charges. So, do it your own and save your money.

I hope that, above explanations could help someone in this regard. I wish Best of Luck to all the applicants of Malaysia Residence Pass-Talent (RP-T).

Hi

Does anybody know if it is possible for foreigners to import a caravan to Malaysia?

It does not require AP.

@rjsgsc Do the testimonials needs to be from local Malysian?

@tsubhashkumar Testimonials must be written by your current malaysian employer.

@rjsgsc Thank you for the update. Few more queries.

  1. Do we need to upload IMM16 form ? Not finding any field for this in the upload section.
  2. If I am having more than one local contact recommendation, are those to be uploaded in the same upload section or in the other document section ?
  3. The offer letter (stamped by LHDN) must be having current salary or original offer letter salary (at the time of joining the company) ?

@tsubhashkumar Do we need to upload IMM16 form?

Its required to upload after your RP-T is approved.

If I am having more than one local contact recommendation, are those to be uploaded in the same upload section or in the other document section?

Use the one Company / Employer where you got your Employment Pass.

The offer letter (stamped by LHDN) must be having current salary or original offer letter salary (at the time of joining the company)?

Employment Contract used to get your Employment Pass (Make same with current date with Salary, Designation and so on) and get Duty Stamp by LHDN).

As I heard from my agency who come across the experience on handling different visa

RT-P is the most powerful visa or even better than MM2H, thus, the approval is the most strict one even though the requirement shown on the official site is not that difficult , but Do remember , its clearly mentioned on the website that its ONLY minimum requirement and its subject to their decision

which means, those eligibility is the basic only, they need to also check whether you are suitable or conflict to other visa such as MM2H, EP or other visa that going to be launched soon

for example : if your salary is only 15k after staying malaysia for 10 years, its considered low salary so you should include some supporting documents , such as : recommendation letter from recognized government sector or agency to prove your contribution to thee society and also prove that you are different to normal EP holder

Another example : You are the co-owner with more than1/3 shares of the company and hired over 50 local staffs , its apparently the great contribution to Malaysia and its the strong input even if your salary or other criteria are only marginally passed

Following to my previous comments , I personally think that if we can have something to prove we are like the resident in this country . it will be definitely better

For example : your financial status, any property purchase ( full paid or loan , commercial or residential )

my agent give me the very extreme and funny example , if bank can prove that you have 1 million MYR Fixed deposit and locked up with them for 5 years then definitely your score in terms of stability , contribution , financial status will be higher
