How to get a police clearance / good conduct certificate in Bahrain?

I was in need of one recently and looked around the internet and found out that most of the information was either out dated or was conflicting.  So I am reproducing my own experience of getting this recently i.e. last week.

There are two types of clearance certificates given.  One is a generic good conduct certificate which is given for immigration purpose and the second is for employment.

The information given here is for the former and is for people who are based in Bahrain / present in Bahrain and can go get this done themselves.

Where do you need to go:

The CID office in Adilya.  Not the main one but the one directly opposite the Alumni club.  Generally there are no parking issues and you can find a spot.

EDIT Jul'19:  This office has shifted to the General Directorate of Traffic area in Isa Town. Thanks to d3ns06 for providing this information.

What you need to take with you:
Copy of latest passport
Copy of first residence permit for Bahrain
Copy of last (and sometimes asked, all others) residence permit for Bahrain
Copy of CPR
Filled out form (this you can also get and fill at the CID office.  Make sure to have all necessary information to fill it.  The tricky bit is employer details where you need to have their CR number as well as full address. A lot of people may not have it available with themselves readily)
One passport size photograph - either white or grey background
Request letter - Generally not asked for.  Except for some countries like Canada where the process requires it (from Canadian side). For others, there is no need or you can provide a handwritten request

What is the process:
The timings are between 730 and 130.  You need to go to the second floor.  There is a seperate section for ladies.  Go in, take the token and wait for your number to be called.

When the number comes up, the officer will take your documents and check if they are in order.  He will attach the application and ask you to pay 1 BD and hand over a receipt.  You will then be referred for finger prints.  This takes time as they fingerpint every finger/thumb as well as palms and side of hands. If it's done once; will not be needed for subsequent certificates.

For people outside Bahrain, you will need to provide fingerprints on the form which are done by the police in your current country, attested by Ministry of foreign affairs in that country and then the subsequent Bahrain embassy in that country.  Very cumbersome so it's advised to get this done when you are based here so that in the future for any certificate, you can easily engage an agent to do this on your behalf when you are not here without resorting to the whole fingerprint documentation.

After fingerprints, you are done.  An sms will be sent to you once the certificate is ready.  It usually takes one week.  Once you get the sms, go back, go to the first floor, present the receipt and collect the certificate.

Update - Dec'19 from one of our members, Osama Hafeez:

1.    Take with you a debit card along with you, If you have a card with you, you can pay it there and then at the counter. Because If you take cash with you, you have to deposit the cash in a kiosk and provide that receipt to the Customer representative handling your case, which takes much more time.

2.    If you have gaps in your stay within Bahrain, possibilities are you will end up paying more. I paid 2 BHD for my wife because while switching jobs I sent her back and she had a gap of more than 6 months.  ( so she will get two certificates, one the first term when she was in Bahrain, and other one for the recent term.

3.    Once you park the car in the parking go towards the Vehicle violation department (entrance near the mosque, once you enter take a left and keep walking till you see the vending machine, next to the vending machine is the gate of CID office ( See picture attached ). https://ibb.co/zh8R0T3

Hi,

On March 2019, I sought help in this group on how to get Bahrain Good Conduct Certificate(GCC) for my parents who lived in Bahrain in the 70s and 80s when CPR numbers were not used. I have an update.

My dad's CPR number was found so I could use it to apply for his GCC. My mom could not find her CPR. I took her documents to Bahrain and after visiting few offices accidentally bumped in to my mom's CPR number in one of her old passport pages. CPR number are unique for every individual and starts with the year and month of birth. A good Uber driver (Mr.Subbaiah) in Bahrain told me about that so I was able to recognize that number as my mom's CPR number. It started with 5407, 1954 my mom's year of birth and 07 her month of birth.

Once I found the number, the process of applying for GCC is simple and straightforward as updated by a member in Dec 2019 in the initial thread.

Thanks for this thread that helped me when I was in need.

Best Regards,
Shobana

Nov/Dec 2020 Update:

Muharraq Office is working again.
Take an appointment through the Skiplino app. Book for GCC, no need to book for fingerprinting separately, if fingerprints are needed they will refer you to that dept.
Get there early as parking is limited on the side street and lots of one-way roads.  :o
Enter within 10 mins of your appointment. Wear a mask!  :top:
They will take your paperwork and enter it online. Debit card payment of fee on the spot - contactless preferred (aka 'wireless').
They transfer you to fingerprinting automatically on the Skiplino app - it's in the same office, just wait to be called.
Use copious amounts of hand sanitiser!  ;)
Then you're done. No receipts or anything.
You'll get a text message later for confirmation and an e-receipt that application is in.
A few days later you're told it's ready for collection.
Book an appointment on Skiplino for certficate collection.
As above to get there early, park and enter within 10 mins of appointment time.
Collect certificate.
Scan / Photo it for backup.
Celebrate the super efficient processes in Bahrain  :D

The whole process is detailed right before your post and also here:

So I am not sure what you are asking.  Spend the time and read - everything has already been answered.

Hi thanks a lot for your response.

So i dont think the options available will work for me. The certificate is for Immigration purpose and i already have the documents prepared including the fingerprint card from the bahrain embassy, i asked if i can expedite it but unfortunately the process abroad will take 3 to 4 months. Thats why i wanna know if i can send all this docs to my friend in bahrain along with authorization letter so she can request for it on my behalf.
Im a bit behind the schedule to wait that long to proceed with my immigration process. Hoping theres a fastest way

Keep in mind that authorized letter might not be enough.  They are in the habit of asking for a power of attorney, attested by Bahrain embassy in the country of execution.

And the only faster way is for you to come here and physically get it done.  No other way.

After doing this will they send soft copies to email ?

If you can apply online (if your fingerprints are in the system) and choose pdf option, yes.

Max how many days it takes for getting police clearance certificate from CID??

For most people, within a week.

For me its a week and still no update!! What could be the reason? Does any one s took that long to
Come?

For some people on this forum, it took months.   So keep waiting and hope for the best.

@XTang

I am trying to get the police clearance certificate online but getting a message on top saying that i can make the request but it won't move further unless i register my fingerprints in MOI. I haven't seen anyone mention this in this detailed post.

Do i just go to the nearest police station and register my fingerprints  or is there  procedure to follow?
It is mentioned in the detailed post about fingerprints.   And I have also mentioned that these are not normal fingerprints i.e. they take prints of all fingers, thumbs, palms etc.   These are taken in either the centers or police stations (added recently I believe).

@XTang 100% right. I applied online recently and gave the fingerprints at Hoora police station.

@XTang please clarify for me on that bit of filling form where you have to fill employer CT number. What if you're a flexi visa holder?

I am in the process of transferring to a new company that requires a Good Conduct Certificate.

I applied for one at bahrain.bh after which it said I needed to register my fingerprints so I went to the Riffa Police Station to do so today. Checking back online it says that the certificate request is Under Review.

I will update the group on my process and how long it takes.

Just got my Good Conduct Certificate today. To recap, I needed this for new employment. I applied online last Tuesday, went in to the police station on Wednesday to register my fingerprints, and got the certificate this Tuesday afternoon. So about 6 or 7 days from the date of application or registering my prints.
Dear Fadi,
Thanks for the update, which police station did you visit? Many of them have been asking this.

T&R
You need to visit the police station assigned based on your CPR residential address.
I don't think that's valid as many police stations are not doing it as mentioned by members previously.
apply for certiifcate through bahrain.bh

@sasasasa92 is it legit? how long will it take to get the certificate

Of course it's legit.

It depends on whether you are in or out of Bahrain.

What is required documents for fingerprint registration in police station

No need original passport

@singhharinder2979

You will require proof that you have applied for PCC Certificate. The online application printout will work.

@topinsight01

My fingerprints not registered in system

@singhharinder2979

You can create an application even if the fingerprint is not registered in the system. After you have applied online. It will ask you to register the fingerprint. So just go with the application paper.

@singhharinder2979

Hi, i went to Hoora Police Station and they told me that they need Original passport to proceed for A fingerprint registration.

Thanks for the responce,

It depends on the nationality and whether you are in or outside Bahrain.

No one can predict the processing time.

Hi everyone! I wanted to know how I can obtain a good conduct certificate from the Bahrain authorities. I had previously lived in Bahrain in 2020 for 9 months and then again in 2021-2022 for another 9.5 months on 2 separate residence permit visa. I'm back again in Bahrain to attend a few meetings, but this time on a visit visa. When I try to apply through the bahrain.bh portal, it says that the RP should have a validity of 10+ days. If I try to apply as an ex-resident foreigner, it shows that the service is only available for residents who previously resided in Bahrain (I'm assuming that is because my CPR (linked to my passport) is showing that I'm in Bahrain currently). Any idea on how I can proceed?

As you are in Bahrain and do not have a residency permit you will not be able to apply. You should go out of the country and click the option certificate issuance for foreigners outside kingdom of Bahrain. You need to type in the cor number. There is no problem whether you have changed the passport.

If you are not interested to wait. Book an appointment with CID Muharrawqbranch and take an appointment through MAWAEID App and you can apply personally.

@topinsight01

Thanks for the quick reply. Any idea if they will be requiring a letter for the good conduct certificate. I require the certificate for Australian immigration purposes.
